Reference librarians staff the reference desk for 74 hours a week when classes are in session. The reference staff will instruct you in the use of the specialized resources available. Special services are also available for law faculty. However, law library employees are prohibited from giving legal advice. The reference desk phone number is 501.324.9970.
The UALR/Pulaski County Law Library is a research library. Books in the collection must be available for immediate use; therefore most materials do not circulate. However, the Law Library has a limited circulation policy. Circulating materials can be checked out for two weeks and renewed for an additional two weeks.
All patrons must have a library card to check out reserve and circulating materials.
In some circumstances, librarians may grant special permission for other materials to circulate. All checked out materials are subject to recall if needed by another library user. Patrons will be asked to show identification before receiving circulation privileges. Those without appropriate identification may be refused circulation privileges.
Our document delivery service will copy almost anything in the library collection for you. Material is delivered by fax or mail, or may be picked up at the circulation desk. Document delivery is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Charges for this service vary. Contact Jeff Woodmansee at 501.324.9991 for pricing information or to place an order.
If the book or article you need is missing, or if the Law Library does not own it, ask the reference librarian about interlibrary loan. UALR law students and faculty and Pulaski County attorneys and judges can usually borrow a book or obtain a copy of an article from another library free of charge. Occasionally, the lending library charges a fee. If this is the case, the charge is passed on to attorneys, but the Law Library pays it for faculty and student borrowers. If the material needed is short in length, the Law Library staff may be able to obtain it the same day via fax. If you need information about an item you are waiting for, contact Jeff Woodmansee at 501.324.9991.
